In 2016, the Biennial of Moving Image Opens Generations Project, an incentive award to the young generation, to support young filmmakers and directors are graduates of art schools and cinema Switzerland Europe and worldwide. This award is fully in the history of the first editions of the Biennial of Moving Images but also in the list of international competitions of the most prestigious movies. A scholarship to the creation of a new project related to the moving image will reward the winner or e-invited-e to present its inception in first at the next edition of the Biennial of Moving Images in 2018.

Each of the selected schools were invited to submit a selection of student films. 64 projects, films and videos of students with 12 schools have been subjected to a first jury. The latter, composed of professionals from the art, film, experts in the audiovisual field, has selected ten films that will be presented at the Biennial of Moving Images, 2016. During the opening week of the Biennial moving Images, a second jury of international dimension, composed of recognized personalities, Generations award the prize to one of the authors of e-ten films programmed. Or the e-winner will receive a scholarship in the amount of CHF 10,000 intended to provide essential support to the production of a new project, which will premiere at the Biennale of Image movement in 2018.
