Sea, 2013. Single-channel video, color, sound.

Sea is an exploration of the evolutionary beginnings of eyes, which developed from rudimentary sensitivity on the surface of single-celled amoebae. The earliest eyes were simple pinholes, open to the ocean’s waters. As they evolved into complex lenses, the ocean waters developed into the aqueous humor. When we cry, our tears are a memory of the primordial ocean. Text adapted from Richard Gregory’s Eye and Brain.
